The last year of Jesus' earthly life is a fast-moving series of events, teaching and challenges. In Mark's gospel, our attention is directed to the Son of Man who came into the world not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. This paradigm for discipleship is the remedy for humanity's perennial challenge, hard-heartedness. The grace to follow Jesus is realized in those who recognize and yield to Him as the Son of God and Lord of all.
